New England Primitive Skills Gathering
« on: June 10, 2012, 08:42:55 am »
The event is still going on, but I only was able to make yesterday. This is an annual event hosted by Jamie and the Algonquin Archers. Great club, terrific folks. I only got a few photos, but here they are. Activities including guided bow making, a plant walk, improptu little workshops in fire making and traps, a knapping pit, and a lot of projects folks were working on throughtout the day.  There was a full 3D course on the property, and a lot of shooting and dart tossing. I brought a Chinese repeating crossbow, which was really popular, a medieval crossbow, and a modern crossbow, and some atlatls and darts. I got home about 1:15 AM, and wish I had the time to get back for today.

Jamie, thanks for a great event, as always.

No sweat, Pat. It really is a nice event, with folks who return year after year, so it has a nice family feeling to it. The Maine Primitive folks always add so much to the weekend, too. The turnout this time was good, and the weather was really nice overall, with just a bit of rain, and low heat and humidity this time around. Anyone who can should try and make this event.
