I will be sure to make other kids (including myself)take them home in PVC pipes so that nobody gets in trouble(presuming that some bows survive ;D)

Heck NO! Make their parent come down and pick it up. Get pics of the parent and kid with the bow!
Bowmakers are a little bent, but knappers are just plain flaky.

you can take the 6" piece and glue it on, if ya cant get a french curve take a flex rulerand flex it from the top edge to the lower edge and have someone mark it, i never made a template, Bub

Cool, sounds like a lot less work :)

I wanted everyone to pick out their own boards but scheduling and carpooling didn't work out, I will try to get some today after writing thank you cards from my bar-mitzvah

upon further inspection the big one has two gouges, right where the outsides of the fades will be... i hope that they are not too deep

Whaaaat? Is that some kind of reference to all us old school "oldies" who would only know it as "Shop"?  ;)

is the gouge on the back, you can allways plane it down past that spot, and if your worried about any of the grainyou can rip a piece a little thicker than an 1/8" sand the saw marks out and flip the backer endofrom the other piece so the grain is going both direction's, that will take care of most problems, you can pm me if i confused you, bub

Funny you should ask, I was going to write it as a more direct reference to Age but I didn't want everyone to get it!

Bub, the grain is fine(as it should be after going through 200 boards!), I hope I can just cut past the
gouge holes and into undamaged wood.

Bub, the grain is purty good

Like the kid that was suspended for a year (evil 6 yr old) for bringing an M-16 to school.  Mind you it was plastic and was an accessory for his GI Joe!  Yeah, but someone could have mistaken it for a real gun!  Right!?!

What? Man thats dumb.

Yb2, you might wanna have em back em with linen just incase. Red Oak boards can be unpredictable once in a while. Sometimes a small little pea sized dot of a knot with lift on a board bow. It's easy to miss little bitty knots like that too. It might keep someones not so pefect first attempt at tillering a bow in one piece? I am also all for pyramid bows verses the poorfolkbows build. He uses a narrower bow, which can cause chrysals easier and take set easier also. I don't know if you need to go as wide as the tradgang pyramid bow buildalong, but wider at the fades is better for a first bow I would think.

x2 what toomanyknots said,  i would try 2" wide with a straight taper down to 1/2"tips and maybe 68" long for a 28" draw
