is elderberry sensitive

i was thinking about getting some elderberry this spring BUT i dont know if it could handle  drying during the summer..does any one know how sensitive the wood is(cracking,twisting)that sort of thing...thanks john

I know it is not very rot resistant.  Probably not a concern if it is drying fast in summertime. Don't know about checking or twist with elderberry.

I don't recal any stories of difficulties with drying elderberry. That doesn't mean it dries easily, but I guess it's not one of the most sensitive ones.
You still have another month before summer really kicks in. If you reduce it to near-bow dimensions, it should at least be partially dried before temperatures rise and humidity drops. I'd say: go for it.

I've never had any problems drying it. Just take the bark off and seal the ends.
