Bone Heads

Anyone on here use bone heads for hunting, I just put a couple on some of my arrows and they fly great but seem to be a little light. Would like to see some pics if you got any of bone head arrows.

have made numerous bone points
not sure what states they are legal to hunt with
but they can be as effective as any other material

natives across this continent(and elsewhere in the world)
made and used bone heads extensively(along with fire hardened wood points)
bone was readily available and easier to work than stone
but of course, the nature of bone means very few have survived the centuries as stone does

Sadie what kinda' weight do those beautys average would you say? Bone may be the perfect primitive medicine for turkeys. Stone seems to struggle and steel is...........steel.

Ya!! I'm a big fan of bone arrowheads. I'm gonna be making a few just for turkeys this week. They are extremely light weight though. Easy as pie to make, and crazy sharp.

I would probably soak the bone before working it, seems it would make it much easier. I know people do that to make bone needles. Also I would probably band saw the whole bone in half, through the narrow side, so you have 2 flatter pieces. Then try to band saw out the preforms, then dremel to clean up. I grind steel and don't go through more grinding wheels than I should.  :P Always make straight cuts, relief cuts etc. You snap wheels when you try to make corners or sharp angles and get caught between them.
