Bow for my love dove
« on: April 22, 2012, 11:36:44 pm »
;) This is a bow I made for my wife for Valentines day. It is a yew wood bow, 59 inches nock to nock, 6 inch brace height, and 59 lbs at 29 inches of draw. It does have just under 2 inches of set and that is my own fault cause I rushed the piece of wood on the drying. It still came out pretty nice, my wife LOVES it! The handle is an inch and a quarter wrapped in cherry bark. It is an inch and a half at the fade outs and tapers down to half inch at the tips. The wood is from the top of a tree and it came from an elevation of 4000ft. But, it has wide rings in it which tells me it had a cushy life because it was not under a canopy of trees and it was pretty much exposed to the sun. It has two snake skins on it from here in Central Oregon. Hope you guys enjoy!

Nice piece of work! I can see why she likes it. Good job!!

Excellent! Nice piece of wood. The snakskins and bark handle really add a unique touch to it. I wish I could get affordable snakeskins here in Europe...*sigh*
You call that "wide rings"?  :o Then I need to see your thin ringed yew!

All round a really nice bow with a great tiller. Kudos for the photography as well.

Nice!!! I like the 2 different skins. Keep up the great work, and I bet she does love it. My wife would kick me in the shin if I gave her a bow for valentines day. :o Side note- Blacktail, you need some ink on the top half of your arms ;).
