Have stumbled into an option.
« on: August 27, 2007, 09:59:42 pm »
You see, thiers this grove of Bodark (Osage) on my way to work every morning. Actually I'm working close to home, so have been watching it grow since they were bushes, years ago. I finally got eat up with it today and stopped to ask permission to cut them. The lady was very gracious, and was actually a little excited that someone should be interested in cleanin up her tank dam. After taking a look at the trees, I'm wondering if it's all worth it ???. Ya'll take a look at em and tell me if you'd wade off in there and start cuttin ;D. I've harvested quite a bit of wood and am thinkiing, hmm - thiers a couple in there that might???????. Just to chat :)

I guess I'll cut a few of em while I have the chance. Something you really can't see in the pic's are all the little limbs coming out of the trunks pretty much from the ground up - lotta knots and pins. Oh well they just add character ;D.

If Justin would haul 1,200 lbs of walnut and hackberry all the way from TN to Utah, I see no reason why you shouldn't give some of that stuff a chance. The best bows I have are from some of what I thought was the worst wood in the pile. BTW Justin, when are we gonna see some bows from that stuff? If it's been as hot there as it's been here, I would expect some of that stuff to be dry enough to work. How's the humidity in Utah?
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.
