New set of Arrows for 3D shoots
« on: April 13, 2012, 01:32:21 pm »
Was down to around 4 or 5 arrows for target practice so I made these.  I forgot what kind of material the shafts are.. I think they are spruce.  I painted the fletched end white with acrilic paint so maybe they will show up under the leaves better when I miss (which I do quite frequently LOL) and sealed the shafts with 3 coats of Tru Oil.  I then fletched them with the brightest feathers I could find that weren't pink.  I hear that pink feathers are the easiest to spot when you are searching for an arrow but I just can't bring myself to sport a quiver-ful of pink fletched arrows.  I always wrap the front end of the feathers with B-50 dacron sealed with super glue.  The last pic is my first time shooting in almost 4 months but I wanted to see how they all fly at 20 paces... Whatcha think?  Thanks for looking!

Those are almost too purty to shoot...for fear of losing one. :)  O wait, that's when I shoot. ;)  Very nice work.

Thanks Guys!

@George that's why I have 12... I actually only carry 6 at a time and replace the ones I lose with the other 6 "spares" LOL

Those are bright  8)  Should be a lot easier to find in the woods than a cane arrow with all turkey feather fletching  ::)  Great job on those.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

thanks osage!  I have lost too many cane arrows at 3D shoots that I don't take them anymore.  Too depressing when I think of all the time invested in straightening them.   :'(

Real men sport pink.

if anyone gives you crap you can turn it on them.  Call them breast cancer arrows... they don't support cancer survivors?
