The name Bullet has stuck with me ever since I cut it.  The tree this came from was growing next to a country road.  I guess it was a victim of a drive by.  Could have been from a poacher.

I filed in some rough nocks and put the long string on it.  I pulled it to 40 lbs and was pretty pleased with the bend.



That whoop de doo out of the fade is making it look funny.  I did some serious scraping and shortened the tillering string to a tight zero brace height.  It still looks decent.  I have a lot more scraping and bending to go.  I hope to get it to a low brace height by this evening.

I think I have it about tillered.  It ain't perfect, but I don't want to push it.  Turns out scraping is a good relief for stress and anger. 

It is at a nice brace height.



#45 at 25" which should make a nice target bow.  The limb on the right is a tad stiffer and will be the bottom limb when she's done.



I've uncovered some nice red in the grain.  It's on the tip of one limb and the fade area of the other limb.



It has a hairline crack on the handle that goes into the fade.  I filled it with superglue.  Tomorrow it will go back to the chiropracter for one more little adjustment.  Then its time to smooth the edges.

Those blue squares have my eyes screwed up! It seems to look okay. the right limb just past the kiny fade 2-4" could bend a little more and give some relief to that kinky fade.

Right past the kinky fade is another kink in the oposite direction.  Right out of the fade it goes up then back down then straightens out.  I'll try to get a better picture of it tomorrow.  And I like my blue squares.   ;D

i agree with pearl,and i personally wood also loosen up the big hole area,you want it slightly stiff but not that stiff imho   i tillered a stave out thats exactly like that hole you have,and i got to slightly bend,it should take it. i have a pic of it somewhere but cant find i right now

Clint, that sounds like my approach on all my bows.    Looking good Clint, Bullet sounds like a great name however I did get a kick out of the Pat Benetar comment. Just something wrong when you have Pat Brenneman in mind and JW explains he was referring to Pat Benetar. Than the picture of Pat Brenneman belting out "Hit me with your best shot"    :o   Still trying to erase that image ::)
