Is this possible??
« on: April 15, 2012, 04:06:36 pm »
I don't know if this happened by luck, but i was able to get a bow from a 34 inch piece of iron wood! It has an artificial sinew backing, because I did not have any real sinew. The demensions are: Handle 1.4 in, fades 0.8 in, tips 0.6 in, overall length is 33.5 in. It is thickest in the handle, where it is 0.7 in thick. It pulls 40 at 19, but stats to stack at 21 in. I was able to pull it to twenty three, but i did not want to breack it. I rcurved th tips about 1.5 inches and it holds about 1 in after being strung for 30 min. This is the coolest part, it has zero set!! I was amazed to have that happen. Iron Wood rocks!!!!!!!!!

I thought that artificial sinew was mostly plastic, how could that make a
Good backing?

When people ask "why didn't you do that the first time" you can be sure that they  have never made a bow before.

" plastic" is a pretty broad term. Some artificial sinew is polyester which has very similar properties to sinew.
 How did you attach it?
