It is glass tiles from the 70's that is smooth on one side and slightly ridged/grooved on the back side. Flakes like obsidian and is about 1/4 " thick.

Very beautiful, excellent work.

I'm a big fan of recycled glass projects, the material is very fun to work with.

Tracy, sounds like carrara glass, the little ridges are the glue side, alot of old store fronts an such used this stuff, not that I'm old enough to remeber this glass :oLater Bob
