I bought a board from the woodcrafters in Portland to make a practice sword for Aikido. It wasn't super cheap, around $20 but maybe cheaper than those bow sites.

I got some from a hardwood supplier in my town. Search for hardwood supplier in your town, it will be exotic if not local.

Rudder Bows has straight grained Argentine Osage.  Will need backing.
