When I shop or pretty much anything in my life I use a 3 strike rule. With that being said here is a camper shopping story. We went to the biggest local R.V. dealer in the area (2nd largest in the world) on the 7th. Saleman told us to start out front, mostly small campers then come find him and he would drive us around back to look at larger ones.  Well he took us to the back told us the campers we may want are in 4 rows each having around 25 or 30 campers. He dropped us off and after making a smart remark to my wife about campers being like shoes available in different colors, he left us standing there on our own.  So for the next couple of hours we looked in pretty much all of them.  Now remember I said 2 hours and never saw him. So we hoofed it back up front, he saw us and came over and asked which one we want to buy?  Dawn told him she wanted to also look at the used campers, he rolled his eyes and directed us to them.  We looked at them, and then I went back and told him we where going home to think about all the ones we had seen and try to narrow down some what.

So Saturday we went again, we started by looking up at acouple of smaller around 21 footers.  Went inside and he came up and asked if we had made up our minds?  We told him we wanted to go back and look at 2 in the back. So he said something under his breath about bing busy, and paperwork then told us he would run us out.  One thing I left out about Saturday is that it was raining pretty darn good.  So out we went, he dropped us off at the first camper and told us where the second should be.  He said he would give us around a half hour and come back and check on us. Well after about a hour we wish that we had not left our phones in the truck due to the rain.  Everytime it would slack up we would move closer to the end wear we hoped we would be able to stop someone to get a ride or a message to get us picked up. We ended up soaked to the bone.  I finally was able to get a guy on a fork truck to go back and get some one to get us.

Although we where kinda upset about what had just happened, we had it narrowed down to two campers.  We asked if we could use a computer to compare the two and make up our minds, on that and just to check if we had seen all them.  The salesman put us at his desk dripping wet as we were, and then disappeared again.  Now I have heard of no haggle sales but no help sales suckes.  After about 45 min. he shows back up with some other customers and tells us, he needs his desk that these people actually want to buy a camper.

For me that was strike 2 just for the day, even know he had more than that. I guess we wear kinda shocked and just stood up and moved away, while waiting we decided on one we wanted, so when he finish we told told him that they weren't the only ones that wanted to buy a camper. So we started the paperwork,  I had already talked to him on Friday about using our old camper as a trade, He told me not to bring it on Sat. that it didn't need to be there to give us a appraisal.  So he took the info on it walked over to another guy, and a minute later came back with his offer.     $400.00  YES I SAID $400.00  to which I said I bet you would give Me $400.00.  Then he started telling me that they had to make money, I told him forget the trade just write it up and continue, but he just kept running his mouth!  SO STRIKE 3

Now I guess I'm going to go ahead and fix our $400.00 98 toy hauler and use one more year.

Well bear I know how you ar feeling my popup has blown a hole in the tent not to long ago I burnt a spindle out at 3am driving home never knew she went. after redoing the axel  my tent goes :( I can afford a new camper. It seems cheaper to just get a tent and sleep on the ground ATM. it mite be cheaper for you just this time to Get a tent so you can save the money and buy a nice camper for next time

Steve I thank you for the offer but that s ok.   We need to get together and get some of your stuff over and loaded before next Friday. Camper should be back at my place by early next week. Got the axle off last night but the new one was to short, right on will be here today.  If you know anyone that fills propane my tanks need to be filled but are expired, so if you have a in on that would save me some money. I still need to address the battries and the roof leak but not that big of a deal at least I hope not.
Sky I'm to fat and getting to hard to get up off the groud for me to tent camp.  We will get a new one for sure by next year, the wife is on board with it. She felt rushed and it is a big investment for sure.  I just have to keep her in check on wieght of the campers she picks, can't afforde a camper and a truck payment. ;D

Plus most of the ones she wants are over 28' and I didn't want to go over that mark. Gets alittle to hard to put in to some spot at camp grounds. But she is already startin gto show me campers that would make us both happy.

Bear, you are truly a patient guy, myself an the salesman would have probably rolling around in the dirt an I'm pretty sure I would be in jail for putting a tanning on him or vice versea. I was always told it's a piss poor hide that can't take a tanning. :o  I guess this is why I'm still sleeping on the ground in a 2 man backpackers tent. I'm only 63 so I figure I probably got at least a few more years before I get a luxury real tent an cot, ;D See ya in a couple weeks an let Seabass sleep on the leaky side. :( Later Bob

Well the leak is on his side. >:D  He is going to get a good tarp today and is going to bring his boat battries, and propane tank to help me save a little money. ;D  Just need to get thru this trip for sure and maybe July shoot, I will talk with a couple of the guys down there to see if the wife and I can bunk in their camper.  Maybe Mayo or King Ron will hook us up.  Anyway a few more little things left to do to the camper, and get my food and beer this weekend. Seabass is going to stop by with some of his stuff next week so we will not need to mess with loading it next Friday morning.  I want to get an early start it takes longer to get there pulling a camper thats for sure.
