Cutting some. If I peel the bark, do I need to seal the back of the staves?

OK now what would be the best to seal with and still be easy to remove without touching the back? What would come off easy with acetone or something similar. I like to use the elmers white glue but never tried to remove it just used drawknife when I have chased a ring.

elmers or liquid hide glue both work great. When your ready to remove it, just wash it off with water and a rag. Josh

Or just leave the bark on, as it dries. Trying to remove the stuff you used for sealing the back, might be just as much trouble as removing the bark.
If you reduce the stave to near-bow dimensions, you don't need to seal the back.
