How much does arrow spine change if a shaft is shortened??

Hi guys,

I am curious to how much a shafts spine will change when shortened... I have a couple of cedar shafts which are spined 40-45# and are 32" long... How much would the spine change if I cut them down to say 25" for some short bow arrows? Any input would be great.

Jon, the effective spine weight will increase by 5# per inch. The arrows are spined for a 28" arrow so the effective spine of them at 32" would be 20#-25#(5#x4"=20# reduction) Cutting them to 25" would increase the effective spine weight to 52# to 57#.  Having longer arrows doesn't hurt anything. Most of my arrows are cut to 29" to 30" for my 26" draw.
