It looks kind of like apatite. Its hard to tell without looking at the original specimen.  There is a small chance that its olivine, sometimes it exhibits conchoidal fracturing. Also actinolite is another possibility. Do you happen to know the region where get got it from?

yeah it came from fort bragg, ca, but it was slabbed so it might have come from anywhere, Bub

First thing that popped into my head was jasper of some kind. Don't have a clue but it's sure purty :).

I'm friendly with the local Geology Prof.  I think for science sake you should send me some and get it ID'ed  O:)  Course it needs to be a big enough piece for me to Er, *cough*, them to get a bead on what it is.

Yep, that's what i was talking about bub. Nice point but too purty to loose in the woods. Unless of course it runs a little ways stuck between a coupla ribs :).

I don't know if I'd hunt with that point. The color variation may compromise the integrity of the blade, adversely affecting its ability to achieve any significant penetration. Resulting in wounded game & a broken spirit. Better save yourself the troubles & worries. Just send it to me & I will put it in a case where it can never cause any trouble.  That's a nice point, & looks like jasper to me. Knap-On!      Tower
