My New Bow!
« on: April 05, 2012, 04:13:39 pm »
On the website "traditionalarcherycommunitysite", run by Charlie Jefferson...we had a weekly giveaway.....a name gets drawn for something offered by a member..then the winner offers something....etc.  Well, Rob Green offered a longbow to the winner's specs...made by Charlie.

I WON!  So, I decided on an osage longbow with bamboo backing......45#@26" was the specs I provided.....Charlie started working on it......and provided a build a long with pics.....

I worked overnight yesterday, and today after about three hours sleep I got awakened by the mail lady with a large PVC tube package...my bow made it from Fredericksburg, VA!  Wiping the sleep from my eyes, I opened the tube, and all I can say, is Charlie nailed it!

The bow is beautiful!  It is 66"....45#@26"....exactly to my specs.....

I have to go in to work tonight...but I have a long holiday weekend off, and it just so happens my archery club is shooting 3D Friday and Saturday....so it will get a workout this weekend......

I took a few pictures, and will have more to come!

Thanks, Rob and Charlie!

Great looking bow, shelves that are cut in that deep scare me though

When people ask "why didn't you do that the first time" you can be sure that they  have never made a bow before.

Great looking bow! Shelves are not that scary, I much prefer them, most of nmy bows have them. :)

LOL, that bows so perdy even the dog can't stop starring at it.

the part that has too little is increased."

Looks like that little dog can really lift his leg high...oh wait, that's osage, supposed to be yellow, right?    >:D

Nice bow, hope she shoots as well as she looks!

Sweet bow. Good job.  You going to post a full draw pic?

That's a stunning bow!!  I love deep grips like that but the way yours is "waisted" makes it look even sweeter!  I think that also goes towards making the shelf look cut in more than it actually is.  In one pic, it's almost like looking at a giant golf tee that's been sanded, shaped and glued on beneath the leather :)

Well, at least the bow is pretty to look at!   >:D

Glad to hear she is a good shooter, too!
