Adding Silk to a Trapped Back...?

I'm thinking I already know the answer, ...but when I put a silk backing on a trapped back, does the silk need to cover the back, and both of the angled "facets" along each side?

Not speaking from experience but I would say no, the silk should only cover the back, not the angle facets. the back is the only part that is bearing the tension load. It would just be adding excess weight to the bow on the side facets.

I don't have any experience with silk as a backing but my guess is that letting it overlap a little past the angled part of the back would help prevent small grain lifts. I think it's important to round those edges just as one would round the edges of a bow with a rectangular cross section.
