Ash warbow 100# 32"
« on: March 26, 2012, 04:42:29 pm »
This is ash warbow for my friend in Germany. It needs to fits some requirements for tournament where he will participate. It is 77" ntn, meets 8/5 rule, do not has flat belly, it is oval. Thickness in the handle is about 30 x 26 mm. Tiller should look slightly different according to shape of the sapling but proposition of the tournament requires compass tiller so I had to adjust it. Bow has under 1" of set until overdrawing to 33"+ (for checking safety), now has a hair over 1". On the pic I draw just to 31", my arms are too short for 32" :( This bow also has some character that is clearly visible, some bumpy back.  Belly of this bow is not heat treated because this was tiny sapling and I was suspicious that heat treated belly could overpower back. Overlays are temporary and because that they are so ugly, I didn't want to make them nice just for photo session, they will be changed into selfnocks or horn nocks. This is first bow in the row of the warbows for my friend, soon will be more like this one especially for him, different wood species will be tested in this form.

Beautiful. Your bows are always top quality, but what really makes your bows nice is the natural character that a lot of your work tends to have. Always like looking at your work, thank you!

Yup another good one, You've certainly made that knobbly back into your own style.
I've gotta make myself a bow which I can take back to a real 30" plus draw sometime...
Mind it will have to be nearer 80# I think else I'll get arthritis shooting it >:(.
