where do you get fletching feathers?
« on: August 15, 2007, 04:43:02 pm »
I am just getting into the whole primitive archery thing, making 3 bows and need to start thinking about arrows.
I will try to make my own from willow or dogwood, I think.  Where do you get feathers?  I get some waterfowl (mallard etc) but not turkey- have not been turkey hunting.  What works, or where to purchase feathers?  I saw some sets of turkey feathers, all right wing or left wing flight feathers, etc on ebay.

untill you figure out what style spine and weight ya want to shoot it may be a good idea to just buy some pre ground feathers to learn with. a company like 3 rivers or any of the dealers in the classifieds at the bottom of this page will sell them. however if you have plenty of duck they will work. do a search for seminole 2 fletch and it should show you a really good way to use the smaller feathers from birds like mallard. peace
