yew?

i found a possible yew tree in my woods the other day, it was in my friends front yard like ten years ago but they threw it into the woods and it replanted itself. but the thing is the bark looks like yew but the needles dont whatsoever. and it never had the little red berries. what could it be?

Only the female trees have berries.

Photo would help. Not all yew is yew.......if that makes since. It might have been Irish yew which is a common garden shrub and is useless.

ok sorry it took so long, these are what it looks like

Those aren't yew needles. unless it's some kinda yew I've never seen. they look like cedar needles to me.  The bark doesn't look right either.  the yew that I've seen and used has a purplish bark that is scaly and flaky but not nearly as rough and jagged as that picture.

I would guess cedar as well...

Incense cedar is about as strong as juniper isn't it? Might be worth knocking down anyway.
