Busy weekend in the shop...part 2
« on: March 04, 2012, 12:43:40 pm »
And here was my other weekend project. Its my turkey whacker. Its a 59" ntn, 1 1/2" wide flatbow. Its 45-45#'s @ 20" and that as far as Im going now. The left limb is my lower for now. Its tillered well and ready for sinew. My plan is two layers with a racing stripe if I have enough left. The tips are osage lam'ed wenge. It came from the same tree that my buddy Daves new bow cam from. Hopefully it carries the same straight standing characteristics as his did. I attached a pic of the wavy top limb which the exact opposite of the picture perfect bottom limb. I love funky staves and this one was right from the start. Unlike David I took my sweet time getting one ring on the back with this thin ringed stave.  Sinewing in an hour, be there or be square! 8)

Lookin good so far, Pearl.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Its the only way to get a 28" draw from a 58" bow with a rigid handle.
