Theat's a pretty little knife. Is the edge forged? I agree that it's nice to know what you have. The carbon variation in W1/W2 file steel can make tempering pretty touch and go. I had a blade from a Nicholson file that was air hardening on me and after quenching had to be heated to blue before the temper was drawn down enough to finish the edge. The cheap Indian files. on the other hand, temper just like 1095. I've seen a lot of online sources for steel, but I assume you are trying to avoid the shipping costs.
