Red B-50 string colour rubbing off problem

So I bought a 1/4lb spool of red B-50 and when I made a string with it I noticed that the red colour would rub off onto the bow which looks like crap. Anyone know a fix for this problem?

I've tried rubbing it with paper towel to get all the excess colour off but it doesn't seem to help much. Should I soak it in water or boil it or something?

Yup, the Red SUCKS...save yourself some time and hassle, give it away to someone who doesn't mind.  I couldn't get mine to stop letting off no matter what...

It happens and ya can't do much about it... personally I don't mind but some do...

Red is the worst and the most obvious. I've never noticed it from any other colors but maybe they blended in better.

Had the same problem years ago... never came off on the bow though. I first seen the problem making a red and white string..... or should I say red and pink. I avoid using it with light colors. Never had problems with red fast flight.

Honestly.... i think it just adds character.... looks like some blood may have been smeared or something...   ive got it all over my hemp backed maple.

The red is the worst I think !
Clean your bow up and use Tru-oil to finish it its a hard enough finish that the red does not bleed into it!

Yep, red sucks!

But you can still use it. Seal the string groove/tip area using super glue (apply with Q-tip). Stain first if needed. Then just a cleaner like mineral spirits to remove the waxy red residue.

You could wrap your loops with serving. I just use monofilament flyfishing tippet. I have not had the red come off since, and my cheap mono serving hasn't given me an trouble in several years.

yellow works pretty good, never had bad problems with red, maybe keeping it well waxed will help keep a layer between the strring and the bow.
