Got another one hooked( Hook line and arrow)
« on: February 25, 2012, 12:53:39 am »
So a few months ago I was showing my wife's cousin some of my bows..He asked to shoot one of them and under a watchful eye I obliged him. He shot well and quickly fell in love with primitive bows. I gave him a linen backed maple molley, that he shoots really well, for his birthday. As he became more interested he wanted to make a bow of his own. I provided a Hop-hornbeam stave with some character...Not the best stave for a beginner, but at least it was dry...After heat straightening, heat treating, and many days of tillering..He ended up with a 68 inch flatbow 1 3/8 wide.Pulling 52#@26" It's a good shooting bow with a pretty cool character knot in the top limb. I know the full draw looks off,but he cants the bow pretty hard.. He couldn't be happier. Thanks for looking...More photos to come after finish work.

That is really cool. Spiffy bow for a first!

That is one butt-ugly eyeball knot in the upper limb!!!  I love it!

Awesome first bow!!  We'll have to all go shootin sometime when it's not freezing.  :)  It was a nightmare gettin up there the night before also.  Took about 4 hours and 80 was closed.  Ugh!
I shot for a little bit later in the afternoon when the sun was out.  It was a blast but I need a lot of practice with the primitive bows.  With my compound If I miss a 20 yard shot by 2 inches I wonder what happened and with a wooden bow if I make it within 2 feet I'm pretty happy.  haha  Got to work on that!
Thanks,
