question about type of wood for arrows

Is white pine or spruce make good arrows or Athens ERC? I have a bunch of ERC laying around.

White pine, spruce and ERC all make good arrows if they have good grain and no knots or grain swirls.

Tamarak also works very well..... headed out this afternoon to cut up the log into 3/8 squares

Jawge makes barreled shafts of white pine. I've made lots of shafts of northern white spruce. I only tried red cedar for one shaft. It came out beautiful but very weak. Have also made lots of Douglas fir shafts and a few of yellow pine. Those two are strong but heavier.
