No problem George, the other thing Jesse showed me (and It made ALL the difference!) is wrap the end with a piece of bicycle intertube. To really get all the flex you can out of it you have to really press HARD and the intertube helps from slipping.
I also got one of those 3/4" rubber hand pads but had to cut a larger slot for the WAY larger flakes I was able to create with this technique. The trick is not to choke up to much on the grip. Place you hand a little farther back. I took a couple pics to better demonstrate. obviosly youll be holding the preform but I put it against my leg so I could take the pic. Hope this helps.
