Coupla odds an ends
« on: February 19, 2012, 07:39:52 pm »
Got a few different pieces made this weekend. A guy gave me a few nice pieces of novaculite and then handed me this dark piece, he said it was the core and very hard to work. I asked if it would heat and he said no. So I figured I had nothing to lose and went ahead and beat it down to size. It worked alright, but not great and left a lot of steps.

The hardin is a piece of perdenales and it had a crack right down the middle of the rock that I had to work around and make sure it didn't give out on me. I love the way that rock worked.

The corner notch is some local rock that I haven't identified, but I practiced my punch notching on it and suprised myself with how it turned out.

The rest are mostly burlington taht I pick up around here.

Enjoy

Looks like you had a good weekend. First piece looks like some hornstone to me. Good looking points!
