In accordance of the above comments, I would say build the bow you want to build and the receiver will be very happy of the gift bow, regardless of style.

Oh, and if you must ask, I'd be very happy with THE holmegaard bow.

I'm not trying to infer that my recipient would be more focused on the receiving end at all.  I'm just trying to get a little feedback that might help me or anyone else involved with the giving part.  I for one agree with the masses , whatever you make for me , I will be honored.  I have given away a lot of bows over the years.  Not once has anyone custom made one for me.  That's my thoughts on the matter.  Josh

I have never received anything like this from someone and I will be honored to whatever they make. The only thing I want to make sure is that I make something to fit their draw. I want it to be comfortable to shoot.  In my stats I said my draw was 24 to 28. I love to shoot all kinds and styles of bows, and from what I see on this sight I think most would agree.

I totally get it, the more info you have the more customized it can be and the more rewarding it can be to build and give away. On my part, I really honestly cant say I would have any preferences. Surprises are great and since i love all bows of all shapes and size, I couldn't give any specifics in terms of design.

The important thing to me is that I can hunt with it. 50#@ what ever a persons draw length is legal for any game here in Oregon. As long as the bow I receive is 50@26 I'm happy. Now do I have prefences, yes. Heavy weight long elb. I'd be a very happy man. But to send my best and receive from someone else their best is the point of the trade. Joel

Ok Josh, I see what you mean a little better now. Researched almost three hours last nite on
my recipient and would still like to have a few questions answered. One of them would be
"What style do you like/dislike?" But there's the rub I guess...building in the dark for someone
else is all part of the fun.

I hope my trade bow "wish list" of surprise me was clear enough for the person who has me I'll be happy with ANY style of bow, as long as the bowyer but his or her effort into it.

As for my recipient... I have a few staves I'm working with and I'll let the wood tell me what style it wants to be. Or maybe I'll do a wood backed bow. Or maybe a.....  The one thing I'll make sure of is to get the draw weight/length on target.

morning josh-yup im with most folks so far. first off, its a great privilege to be able to make a bow for another member here. and i am grateful for the opportunity.

and of course, i will be greatly honored by any type bow i receive from any yall on this forum. as long as it draws to a weight i can handle.... and hopefully holds up for many years to come-but who can see into that crystal ball?

the trade bow(s) i received from grunt last year are prized possessions of mine.
they are the first(and only so far) bows anyone every made for me! 
love em both. shoot em quite a bit. and they are both lovely to behold!
i will always keep those two bows.
even if something happens to either or both, i will patch em and hang em on the wall to be admired.

it will be no different this year im sure.

can i just say right here that i am truly amazed nearly every day by the beauty and skill i see on this forum.
what a blessing it is to have this experience and to sit amongst such talent.
i really truly appreciate each and every one of you!
