Red Grandis (pics added)

I just picked up a very straight grained red grandis board.  This is in the eucalyptus family.  I am going to give it a try and see how she turns out.  I will most likely go for a overbuilt bow design.  Anyone else ever try this wood?  Here is a link comparing it to other woods.

This wood is a sustainable wood that is native to Australia but it is being grown in Uruguay.

How is the edge grain on the board?

I read that it is a tropical. Be very careful of the dust. Some people can react pretty badly to some of the tropical (or any wood) dust.

Pat the edge grain is straight also.....no dips or runs.  Thats why I thought I would try it and see what it would do.  I went to get a peice of european beech....but there was not any straight grain of that.

Bevan you are correct....most any of the dust gets me.....doesn't matter the wood.  I do my best to avoid it all the best I can.
