New Knife
« on: February 13, 2012, 12:56:55 am »
It was a cold weekend at Twin Oaks but I was able to make a new knife at least.

The handle comes from a piece of Osage from a 100 year old fence post.

It worked out pretty nice I think.

Nice one, Jon. I know I use the one you gave me a bunch. It's cleaned 29 squirrels in the last week.

The knife started out from a piece Shannon gave us to use at Twin Oaks.

Draw out the shape, (thanks for that GregB !) and cut out.

Shape with grinder and file.

Drill the holes to pin with brass.

Cut and shape the handle scales.

Then glue and pin the scales to handle.

Shape the handle, grind and polish the blade.

Sharpen the blade edge and your finished.

Drop on Eddie's foot to test sharpness.
