what about beech?

I have been reading post on beech wood for bows and it seems like no one knows what it is.

Different people say different things about it. Some say it is weak like poplar when other say it is strong and like oak. I am a beginner bow maker and was wondering about this wood for a bow. I can't find any consistent info on this wood. All the beech I have seen seems like it would be real tough just because the way it looks.

I was wondering if anyones has experimental knowledge with this wood.

I have not tried beech but others have sucessfully. I'd say give it a try and report back with your results. Make it long(68") and wide(1 3/4" to 2").

I am getting ready to try some European Beech boards.....looks very promising.  Has very good quality's, check this out.

Our beech trees around here are mostly nasty rotten stuff so I have not tried it myself .
If you have some nice ones give it a try it does have what looks like somewhat doable properties
At the cab shop we have gone to all European beech for our beech jobs  for its better qualities and consistencies !
I am with Pat on the dimensions but then most of my bows are 68" any way !
