Question about a cherry stave
« on: July 17, 2013, 10:03:57 pm »
Hello all.  I am about embark (no pun intended) on making my first cherry bow.  I would like any advice.  Would I need to get rid of all of the sap wood or could I use it for backing?

Post this in the bows section rather than here. This is more of a post a build as you go section. You will get much, much more help in the bows area. The sapwood all stays and by the looks of it your bow will ball sapwood, that's good with cherry as the heartwood is brittle and breaks quite easily.
Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realize we cannot eat money.
