R\D Red Osage Bow
« on: February 05, 2012, 12:33:59 pm »
I finally decided im 100% happy with my naturally reflex\deflexed osage bow. It's from a stave that had a lot of those Red Streaks in it and a natural r\d shape. I've found that I usually get really great bow out of that Red Osage. This is probably the best shooting\handling bow that I have ever made. Super smooth, fast and handshock isn't even in question.  It measures in at 66" long and 64# @ 28" draw. It has a dark chocolate deer leather grip and Osage over Brazilian Walnut tip overlays.  This is one of those bows that I really want to hang on to, but I know I will be afraid to use it and scratch it up. The finish on it is really beautiful. When I hunt with a bow it gets beat up, unfortunately. This one is just too nice to abuse like I know I will...but man, it shoots great .lol    But here she is.- Ryan

Beautiful bow man... Like I said before, those tip overlays are flawless.

I've had very good experiences with red streaked osage too. This is a very nice bow Ryan but I have to disagree with you. No bow is too special to use. I'm also very rough on bows but if they can't take it they can just go to someone else!  ;)

Very nice subtle R/D curve, and natural too! Very nice bow, classic and elegant. Sorry to hear you'll be putting some dings on it. it can take it though, it's yellow!

Very nice bow and needs to be used!!

Great profile and you say it was that way naturally, sweet!!

Never thought about it much but I've got a piece of osage with red stripes running end to end...  what's the difference in the wood properties?

Nice bow Ryan. That orangey/red stuff is primo in my book.

Thats a nice one. I love when you have a bow that you could say "thats it and I am not messing with it anymore". How did you stitch the handle? I was trying to figure out how you got that pattern?

That is a very nice bow Ryan. It looks great.I built one a few months ago with those red streaks, and it was also exceptional wood. I hope I can find a few more in that batch of logs. Again, great work. God Bless
