fish, i have a few 6' logs of yew :P all mine lol. we have soo much vine maple and even then finding a straight piece is difficult. but im sure i have a few hanging out back waiting to be made into bows. characteristics of vine maple....hmm... its more unbreakable than Oregon white oak, takes FOREVER to season and prone to warp. best way to deal with it is to get it green pull the bark off rough out the bow in less than a day. and then seal the ends, CLAMP THAT THING DOWN. and do not, DO NOT unclamp until dried to around 12% which takes awhile.

elk, ive only seen one Yew around here and it was by a lake behind saddle mountain. pretty sure they where all cut down and replaced with doug fir around here. ive seen more in Forest Park, which is lame bc your cant cut a stave from em.

alright guys i have Chemistry homework to finish so ill talk to yah later
p.s. if anyone needs vine maple,cherry,ash, or apple let me know i have a ton of everything but apple only a little of that

I wonder if that sharp bend will make it a difficult bow to string, guess it depends on what method you use to string it

I opted for a cherry wood grip instead something a little more natural to this area


 


I'll get her all shaped tillered up?..... Down? w/e get some stain on her and post the final pics here in the few days :D

Not that vine maple needs it. But I wanna put a backing on it. Ive, or course heard of linen fabric as a backing. What about rip-stop nylon? What do you guys think?
I was thinking bc nylon has some stretch to it and this bow is super bendy.
