You can probably get what your shooting for out of that, thos tips would scare me :D Pretty sharp bend all in one place but I wish you luck! Are you using the tension side of the viney?

Yeah, I'd be a little scared of those recurves too. Of course I'm a little gun shy on vine maple right now. those curves looked a little too much like my last attempt!  >:D

Good luck, I'm interested to see your progress. Out of curiosity, what area of Oregon are you in? I'm in Portland.

I just had a thin spot. the break wasn't due to the bending (used dry heat) it was due to poor tapering. I got some help from Gordon to resuscitate but in the end it just failed in that spot. Live and learn. Make sure you come out to the Sisters gathering in May. :)

Tide creek rd across from tide creek nursery, I grew up there all my youger life. My good friends the brownlows still live out there and my buddy Scott has a Vine Maple 7 pounder I made him. I love it as well but it doesnt work with a knife or file as cleanly or easily. Do you have any Yew out that way? I have had my buddy Scott looking for it for me but he hasnt seen any.
