I have my trade bow mostly built, and 300 arrows through it. That's at my draw length, which is 2" shorter than my recipient's. I'll gradually work it out to final draw weight and exercise it a few hundred times on the tiller tree, then it's time to pretty it up. Not sure how I'll go about that yet. If it were for me, I'd just wrap the handle and call it done 'cause I like the Plain Jane look but this one has to be special in some way.
I thought I'd have a friend show me how to do pictures, but it didn't happen. I still have to work on that somehow.    Rob
If I knew what I was doing, I'd probably be bored with it, and I wouldn't be here.

George the stave was cut in 09. The desing is Choctaw taken from TBB. Handle is 1 1/4 mid limb 1 5/8 tip is 3/4. It started with a little reflex , I wasnt concerned with removing any only stopping any further set from being introduced.

I'm working this piece of osage. The shortest bow I' ve yet to try 56 1/2 t2t. Got it braced and pulled to poundage at 14". I wasn't planning on backing it but the bow is starting to take a little set so should I back it now and then finish the tiller or vicey vercy??

Back it now and leave the tips alone. They are getting weak on you.

Well sadly looks like I'll have to try an Osage d  bow instead of the BBI.....I'm sure my recipient will be very disappointed... ::) ::)

Well I'm a little baffled, I don't see a problem with the design or the wood.  I'd finish it up and see what you get.  On the other hand, you could stop, add a couple courses of sinew, pull a little reflex back into it, and it'd likely end up about the way it is now.  But, that'll add some time to your build, 3-4 weeks I'd think.  I agree with Pearlie on the tiller.

Knapper,

I'd consider Heat Treating the Belly and induce a bit of Reflex in the bow at the same time. It would only add a few days to a week to your build time allowing the bow to rehydrate after heat treating. This would take out the set you have now and add a few pounds to your draw weight.

Got my trade bow tillered out and is shooting very well. It is so many lbs at so many inchs and about so long. Needs some leather work, a new string, some sanding and a lot of oil. Hope to have it ready to ship in about 2 weeks.

Try duct tape to get your scales off Paul. That stuff will do anything!
