Really excellent work my friend, I just picked up a bunch of #11 Cech beads, some artificial sinew (to be thinned) about 3 sq ft of braintanned white-tail and a nice basic loom.  I just need to figure out what I want to bead and what design/style.

Thanks Lee.  I use a loom for the longer strips.  I'm thinking about using it for some medicine bag and strike a lite pouches.  I need to order some very long needles for those or do them in sections.  For the most part my beading is done directly on the buckskin.  I tried thinning the sinew and did get it small enough to go thru the eye of the needle, but had trouble getting it to make the second pass thru the beads.  I use regular sewing thread now and have had no problems.  Single strand on the loom and double on the buckskin.

Thanks for the tip/heads up on the sinew thickness issue...guess I need to make a run back into town this afternoon and pick some thread then.  I'm thinking of doing a strike a light pouch also but need to pick up a flint & steel set before I plan out the pouch size.

I am jealous...that is nice .....for some reason I can not get the hang of loom beading but do lazy squaw. Has any one done quill work ??

I do some quillwork, but nothing too elaborate.  I have a beaded knife sheath to finish and then I'm working on some quilled stuff.

I like that one a lot.  I've been wanting to pick up some beading materials myself to use on some knife sheaths.  I think this is just the inspiration I need.

That's very nice.  So, the beadwork is done on the loom and then you stitch it to the bag?

I do some loom beading but with both thepouches I posted, the beads were sewn directly to the buckskin.  Usually five or six beads at a time.  On. The lane stitch I sew eight or ten at a time.
