Young Bowyer got me thinking about setting some traps,,Need help from my fellow Florida people. Can you use the conibear traps ,on leased hunting land in the state?  I looked up the regs,,wow!  its like reading a legal dictionary,It contradicts its self just like most of the regs do. Anyone had any experience??

Here in New Jersey all conibears have to be in water sets except on private land. If I were to use 220's for coons i would most likely use cubby sets raised off the ground on logs. I just read up on Florida. No steel traps allowed but you can use snares which are quite effective. Only it might be a little tougher in Florida to read tracks with no snow.

 Sorry Rick, can't help there. The only traps I've set in Florida are Box traps and Rat traps screwed into oak trees smeared with peanut butter. You'd be suprised how many squirrels you can get doing that. Just like head shooting them.

Im thinkin the rat trap thing as well,I saw a video on that,,dont know why I havent tried it before now! Thats on my list for next week!  thanks yall,

maybe FL. should become more easy on the trappin ...ya'll do have a lot of invasive species down there

Ken, all of those invasive species are legal year round.

Ken, Florida is a very strange state as far as fishing and hunting regs go.The FWC, is on a state wide program,where the state is actually about 3 different demographics at least. For instance,where I live,in North West Fl,is a totally different landscape than where Mullet lives,South Florida is not even a part of the U.S. in my opinion,yet most of the laws apply state wide.We have regs on snook here,and we dont even have snook,you might hear wild hogs are a big problem in Fl, we have very few where I live.When people hear FLORIDA,they automatically think Orlando,Miami,Daytona,,,I think I might write a geography lesson and post it.It will take me a while but im gonna do it complete with maps. Maybe our northern friends will understand a little better.
