i need a definition
« on: January 21, 2012, 05:34:02 pm »
I have noticed on a few posts the term "flip the tips".  Would someone please explain that for me?

Oh, it's easy.  Saw off the last 6 or 8 inches of the bow limbs and glue them on the other end.  In  essence you have flipped the tips but the bow remains in the same position.   Clear as mud?

An alternative or less interesting definition is to recurve the tips of the limbs.

When I hear "flip the tips" I usually think of kind of a semi recurve. I don't think their is a solid definition as much as it is just a term we use.

Pappy and the boys from Tenn. seem to be the culprits behind the term "flip the tips" maybe they have a firm definition for us !!!
They just give the tips (about 4-6" from the end) a little kink into reflex .
It works well for them and has caught on with others now !
hopefully they will give us the proper specs. on it !

I wonder if the duffers that came up with "flip the tips" are from the same age group as the girls that wore the hairstyle called "the flip"?  Maybe they were the ones that went to the soda counter at the drugstore and ordered "a flip"?

What the "flip" are you talking about JW?  ;D

Flipping the tips is adding a little bit of reflex to the tips of the limbs. To what degree seems to vary.  ;)

REFLEX THE TIPS OF THE BOW A LITTLE. To pick up speed.  Some do it just for looks.

Flipping the tips is not like flipping the bird! I always thought it was just a slang version we use for inducing recurve to the tips.
