Pocket knife rebuild
« on: January 07, 2012, 04:34:08 pm »
Ok fellers :) Here's something a little different!
My father in-law gave me this busted up knife to play with, and I thought I'd take a few pictures along the way.
I've never worked on a pocket knife before, but figured if I was gonna try to fix it,  I'd make it the ay I want it!
The blades and back springs were in good shape, as well as the liners.
I don't care for brass bolsters and since two of them came off, I went ahead and replaced them all with nickel/silver instead. The wood handle scales were to be replaced with some good 'ol Wolf Watcher elk antler!
Be thankfull for all you have, because no matter how bad you think it is...it can always be worse.

That looks like a cool project.  I can't wait to see how it turns out.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

Very cool Shannon. I have a few old knives that could use some rebuilding.  ;)

With new scales pinned on and bolsers roughed in, it's time to assemble everything.   It took me a while, but I finally figured out where everything was supposed to go :-[  Next time I'll pay better attention to this before I take it apart.
Once assembled , it needed a lot of finish work and some fine "tuning" of the blades.
It was a pretty fun little project that ended with me having gained some knowledge and....a nice knife 8)
