shuttles for an Eskimo style cable backed bow
« on: January 08, 2012, 07:56:24 pm »
I made a couple of new shuttles for a special project.  I want to make an Eskimo cable backed bow.  Right away I realized that I would be dealing with large lengths of string and wanted to make a couple of shuttles to help manage them.  So I made these from some oak limbs on the wood pile.  The decorations are mound builder inspired.  I know not exactly Eskimo is it.  Please forgive.

The bow is crafted and pulls 50# @ 28" . I'm working the cable system now and hope to have it complete by month's end.  Figuring out how to do the knots and all is taking more time than I expected.  When complete I hope to post in the bow section.
