Rocky Mt juniper, moose and halibut 5 curve for my sis
« on: December 13, 2011, 02:06:34 am »
Put a lot of time into this one, but it is for one of my favorite people. Rocky mt juniper with a couple layers of moose sinew, covered with Halibut. Sinew hook tips covered with rawhide, as well as the handle. 51" 41# @ 25". I was thinking 41# might be a bit too much for my sister. Then I remembered she is 5'0" and all of 98 pounds. With her draw this bow should last 100 years

Sweet. You nailed that one.  The skins look great Did you heat the Juniper in a form or was it somewhat naturally that way and you helped it along?   Danny

Wow, Love it . The profile is excellent and it looks like it could be in a museum as well. Fantastic bow. Tiller is spot on. Congratulations, She should be a very happy lady.

Danny, I don;t have any forms. I actually steamed the stave in 5 places and used my knee and shoes to add the curves

Thanks Keenan, learned/ copied some things from you on this bow. Never thought of using halibut till you did. Just ended a 11 year stint on a commercial fishing boat and have all kinds of skins for future bows

Excellent little bow. The braced and unbraced pics are very nice and full draw ain't too shabby.  8) Well done!

WOW! That is a fantastic bow. The craftsmanship you put into it is obvious. Could you show more detail of the nocks?

I agree with Keenan on this one, my first thought was "Museum quality". Love the hooked pin nocks, use of skins and rawhide, it all comes together in a timeless piece. Well done sir!
