Osage Flatbow
« on: November 26, 2011, 07:36:46 pm »
Here is an Osage selfbow that I recently made for hunting out of a tree stand.  The bow draws 60# @ 27” and is 60” ntn. The tip overlays are cocobolo wood and the handle is dyed deer hide.  Limbs are 1 3/8” wide tapering to 7/16” at the tips. The bow design is stiff handled, asymmetrical limbs with flipped up tips.  Nothing fancy but it should get the job done.

This is my 3rd Osage bow and I have to admit that I am enjoying working with this wood more and more.

Gordon, you have been blessed with a gift. It appears that you are using it well. A very clean cut bow there.

Gordon that is a beautiful bow. One of the prettiest Osage bows I have seen. It sounds like your hooked on Osage. It is a tremendous bow wood. Dean

Great looking bow Gordon. Love the profile and very clean look. How much reflex dose she have?  Your tips look prestine as always. Can't wait to see her up close. Well done my friend.

It's incredible how you flow the outer 3rd of the limbs into the tiller, just right amount of work in the tips.

The best wood in the perfect hands can only yield the finest results.

Do believe this is the best bow that I've seen you post.
