When considering a Hickory board bow, are wide growth rings or small groth rings more desireable?

Thanks

Really doesnt matter that much with hickory. The thing to look for is the latewood ring thickness compared to the earlywood ring thickness. Hickory usually has pretty thin rings but try to find a piece where the earlywood rings look like dotted lines between the latewood rings.

The grain configuration on the back and the sides of the board are more important than the thickness of the grain.  Check out George Tsoukalas' website(can be fornd at the top of the "How To" page). He has everything you need to know about this and other archery related matters.
