what kinda tree is this????

Howdy Y'all
Was doing some clearing at work today and
came across this tree or bush and it grows fairly
straight so I'm thinking arrows I harvested some
and took aome pics was hoping maybe someone
know what it is called.

Im guessing a cedar of sorts. Soft needles?

I thought maybe a cedar of some sort as well the needles are
very soft the bark is slick not like most cedars I know of
and it doesn't have a cedar smell and is a very white wood no
dark heart like typical cedar ....but its gonna be made into arrows any way

Eastern Red Cedar maybe.

Or, Is it by chance a Salt Cedar?
They dont grow in this area so this is just a guess.

It doesnt look like the ERC we grow up here, not even close. Not to say that it isnt a Texas variety.

I've actually planted some cypress in the
Past and they didn't look like that I'm not
even sure if it is native to the area I don't
recall ever seeing it around Texas and I've
seen a lot of Texas

It looks like a Salt Cedar to me. It's not a Cypress. The Salt Cedars where I hunt on the Gulf Coast here look just like that.

I agree w/ Mullet - tamarisk - salt cedar. Known to take over large tracts of land in a very short time and it drinks lots of water from the water table - cut away!

That would be correct - Salt Cedar or Tamarisk. Invasive and hell on the water table. I cut a bunch for arrows but never got around to using them. Heard they work fine. Kinda pithy center?

Makes excellent, tough, heavy arrows. I got some from Justin a few years ago, and they made great shafts.
