Nod to Nels
« on: November 15, 2011, 04:18:40 pm »
This bow used limb pattern I traced from a Grumley Brush Bow (but without the brush nocks). It has a wide thin limb with little thickness taper - similar to a pyramid white wood bow design. It is 59 NTN and 50# @ 28". Limb willow leaf shape and 2" wide tapering to 1/2" nocks, approximately 1/2" thick at fades to 3/8" at tips. It holds about an inch of backset and is quick with a 500 grn arrow.  Handle is skived wrap with tapered width for finger fit. Scraped (not sanded) and no finish on osage limbs. Very light in the hand and stable, a pleasure to shoot.

Nice bow Shaun. That is my absolute favorite design for hunting bows.  Wide and stable.

I am tempted to refer to the bow as "plain", but that word really doesn't fit.  Nothing really plain is as attractive to me as this bow, let's call it elegant instead.   Those simple lines and fine tiller makes my eye linger on the sweet curves, makes me wanna take her out and hold her.  Very sweet, very sweet indeed.

Shaun,

The brush nocks have always intrigued me but I was always concerned about the additional mass at the tips. I have seen your other bow with the brush nocks and have to say I prefer the way this one looks. Do you notice any differences with or without the nocks?

Well Done!

Makes for a fast bow.
Sweet.
