If you contact your local Society For Creative Anachronism group they make their weapons from rattan and duct tape (I wonder how the real knights survived without duct tape). 
Guns have triggers. Bicycles have wheels. Trees and bows have wooden limbs.

Here's a follow up on locating Rattan in the States.

Wrote Mr. Torges for some guidance and he pointed me to his Rattan info page.

Sorry Frank, you're right, sorry, rattan wood is very fibrous, and very easy to work, as they say in less than an hour you have your bow ready, but I like to reinforce the back so it is better because the rattan just in time bends.
