This weekend was a tough (and expensive) hunt. 3 sits yielded no deer sightings. Did see one 8pt walking back to camp with my bow but too far out to shoot. Left for home after the evening hunt and at 11:30 pm my jeep passed away. The SUV in front of me was hit by a pickup and began spinning. I was not able to avoid the broadside SUV in front of me and hit it at 60mph, The airbag went off, I continued to try to steer but it was obvious that I was no longer in control. The jeep swerved to the left and slammed into the median concrete barrier, slid along it for 20 yards or so, finally screeching to a stop with smoke pouring out of the air bag and the engine compartment. I shot across the cab and fell out onto the interstate. Thankfully, traffic had stopped. The man in the SUV sustained some pretty serious injuries though his passenger was completely uninjured. Not sure about the driver of the pickup that was 100 yards behind where we were. I got some bruises but nothing serious. Mary drove over to pick me up and we got home about 2am this morning. Finally got pictures of the jeep this afternoon and it frankly doesn't look as bad as I expected it to.
I hate the day after an accident, Lots of new sore spots. Better than the alternative though. I'm feeling pretty blessed today.
Guess now I'm shopping for a pickup.
