dead 4 ptr
« on: November 03, 2011, 09:28:05 pm »
I found a dead 4ptr the other day. His body looks healthy and there are no wounds. I was wondering if it would be safe to eat? i will take the rawhide, sinew, and antlers for sure, i don't want to waste the meat if its edible though. Also does anyone know how to do a simple antler mount?

Thanks, Tom.

Not as simple as just an antler mount but it comes out nice.
You skin that smoke wagon and we'll see what happens!---Are you gonna do something? Or just stand there and bleed?

DON'T EAT unless you or someone you really trust was there at the time of death.  I prefer to find road kill and what not still moving around a little.  I feel like I know what's going on a bit better. We have what they call "blue tongue" around here once in a while; you may check for that.  Agree w/ Pat about the gloves.  I almost always wear them anymore for every butchering process.  If nothing else they give you a leway or warning before you cut your finger.  :o

I not eat that deer.  There are too many unknowns about cause of death and what has happened from time of death.
