I keep thinking about detachable tips and I had this idea. I sketched it up but the scan didn't come out.
Basicaly a modified trade point. No side notches fro wrapping. The center is slotted the same diameter as a piec of say 3/16 round rod stock. the end of the rod is slotted the same thickness as the trade pont.
One edge of the trade point or both is barbed and a hole in the point takes a tether which ties back to the arrow shaft. The rod is glued and artificial sinew tied to the bamboo shaft.
Is that making sense? So if you make "Spock hands" with each hand and then interlock them so the open parts of the webbing touch you would have the gist of how the tip locks onto the shaft.
I'm trying to brainstorm a head that detaches from a long bodkin type of mount, with deep clean penetration the will detach like a toggle head harpoon, and not damage much meat. A wider head could be deep penetrating and cut more vitals, backbone but still not mangle meat like the AMS heads do.
How would a person cut that thin slot in the rod accurately?
